Employees, MDCs Deprived of Salaries for five months: Lakhon Biam

SHILLONG: After officially joining the BJP, Chairman of Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) Lakhon Biam stated that the employees and also the Members of District Council (MDCs) have not received their salary for the past five months.

When asked, he said that joining the BJP is a way to further strengthen the Executive Committee (EC) at JHADC and to bring about various developmental activities and projects in Jaintia hills.

He informed that recently a delegation of the Council also met the Union Tribal Affairs Minister to seek assistance for the JHADC.

On allegations that the MDCs who had joined the BJP had betrayed the mandate of the people, Buiam replying to a question said, “We have not betrayed the people. However, we have taken this decision to join the BJP to find more ways and means to bring about development in the region and the people of Jaintia hills.”
