SHILLONG: The Hynniewtrep Achik National Movement (HANM) on Friday suggested that there is a need for the State Government to hold another special session to resolve the inter-state boundary dispute between Meghalaya and Assam.

Addressing reporters, HANM president Lamphrang Kharbani said, “The State Government had passed a resolution to implement the Inner Line Permit (ILP) in the State. However, there is also a need to first clear the long pending border dispute.” He also said that as the government has brought

about a special resolution on ILP, they are also of the opinion that the government of Meghalaya should make sure that in 2020 the inter-state boundary dispute is resolved.

The HANM leader also informed that by February 2020, a letter will be sent to all the 60 MLA in the Legislative Assembly to seek their support in asking for a special session on resolving the boundary dispute.
