SHILLONG: The Hynniewtrep Integrated Territorial Organization (HITO) has sought from Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma the reason for the proposed visit of Union Home Minister Amit Shah to the State next month. "The State government should come clear with the motives and purpose of the visit of Amit Shah to Shillong as the people also wants to know," HITO president Donbok Dkhar said.

He said the government should state the objective of Shah's visit as the people of the state is in a state of confusion.

This came after senior BJP leader and Health Minister AL Hek confirmed that Shah is scheduled to visit the State capital in the second week of July.

Earlier, Meghalaya chief minister Conrad K Sangma and deputy chief minister Prestone Tynsong had met Shah in Delhi in February to follow up on the implementation of ILP, among other issues.

Shah had then told the Meghalaya government that he would visit Shillong in March to meet with local organizations and discuss the issues.
