SHILLONG: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma formally laid the groundwork for the Shillong Ropeway Project at Shillong Peak on Wednesday. At an estimated cost of Rs. 175 crore, the state's first passenger ropeway would provide a stunning overview over Shillong City.
The project, which will link Lawsohtun and Shillong Peak, was originally planned to start in November. President Droupadi Murmu had laid the project's first foundation stone on January 16 of this year.
Recently in Nongstoin, West Khasi Hills, CM Sangma demonstrated his dedication to responsive governance by launching the CM Connect outreach initiative. He spoke directly to the public during this event, addressing important local issues and re-iterating the government's commitment to resolving citizens' concerns.
By establishing an interactive platform for open, two-way communication, the CM Connect program seeks to bring governance closer to the people as part of a number of block-level initiatives. Village members from the Nongstoin Block, community leaders, and chiefs of other departments attended the occasion.
In response to requests for improved roads and bridges, Sangma stated that in order to increase connectivity in rural regions, road projects would be started under the CM Rural Connect Program. He underlined that as part of a larger plan for equitable growth, the government is dedicated to filling key infrastructure shortages.
