Meghalaya government carries out mock drill at corona care centre in Tura

Shillong: As part of the preparedness to combat COVID-19, the Meghalaya government carried out a mock drill in its second corona care centre in Tura, West Garo Hills on Saturday. The centre is located at Baldapgre Pastoral Centre.

Informing about the mock drill carried out by medics, paramedics and other functionaries, Officer on special duty Rikki D Shira said that the mock exercise aimed to familiarize all the stakeholders with the situation in hand. “After the drill, we sat together and educated ourselves. We solicited everyone's views to understand where we are lacking in terms of manpower, medical items and other issues,” said Shira.

He said that during the exercise, the indicator is that the centre is prepared. According to Dr I Sangma, the entire protocol was put in place right from the maintenance of patients to transfer of the infected to a referral hospital with ventilators.
