SHILLONG: The number of active cases in Meghalaya has come down below 400 on Wednesday after a decline in new infections in the last few days.

On Wednesday, the State recorded 22 new cases, 53 new recoveries and no deaths were reported.

With the latest figures the state now has 381 active cases, 81897 have so far recovered from the virus and the total deaths stands at 1456.

Of the 22 new cases, East Khasi Hills district recorded 17, West Garo Hills district and West Khasi Hills district recorded two each and West Jaintia Hills district one. The district-wise distribution of the active cases are - East Khasi Hills district 265, West Khasi Hills district 41, West Jaintia Hills district 24, Ri-Bhoi district 15, West Garo Hills district 12, South West Khasi Hills district seven, East Garo Hills district six, East Jaintia Hills district five, North Garo Hills district four and South West Garo Hills district two.

South Garo Hills district is currently free from the virus. Meanwhile, the Chief Minister, Conrad Sangma attended a review meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the Covid-19 vaccination through video conferencing.

"Attended the VC by Hon'ble PM Sh. @narendramodi Ji on #COVID19 vaccination. Thank him for his guidance on measures to be adopted by states & districts to speed up the pace of vaccination coverage in order to achieve overall 100% coverage," tweeted Sangma.
