SHILLONG: Meghalaya on Friday recorded two Covid-19 fatalities and 262 new cases while 279 persons recovered from the virus. Health authorities informed that of the two deaths one is not vaccinated.

With the latest figures, the number of deaths is now 1,296. The State has a total of 2,663 active cases while 71,120 have so far recovered from the infection. Of the 262 new cases, 162 were recorded in East Khasi Hills District; 32 in Ri-Bhoi district; 26 in West Jaintia Hills; 14 in West Garo Hills; 12 in West Khasi Hills district; eight in South West Khasi Hills; three new cases each in East Garo Hills and East Jaintia Hills; and one case each was recorded in South Garo Hills and South West Garo Hills districts.

Of the 2,663 active cases, East Khasi Hills district recorded 1,420. Ri-Bhoi district has logged 399 cases; 269 in West Khasi Hills; 209 in West Jaintia Hills; 138 in South West Khasi Hills; 116 in West Garo Hills; 29 in South Garo Hills district; 23 each in North Garo Hills district and East Jaintia Hills; 20 in South West Garo Hills; and 17 in East Garo Hills district.
