SHILLONG: Meghalaya on Sunday recorded two more COVID-19 deaths, 172 fresh infections and 180 people recovered from the virus.

Health authorities informed that one death each were recorded in Ri-Bhoi district and West Khasi Hills district. Both the deaths were of persons who have not been vaccinated. With the latest figures, the number of fatalities have gone up to 1,407, there are 1,547 total active cases and 78,793 have so far recovered from the virus.

Of the 172 new cases, East Khasi Hills district recorded 106, West Khasi Hills district 42, West Jaintia Hills district 13, Ri-Bhoi district four, South West Khasi Hills district three and East Jaintia Hills district and West Garo Hills district two each. The district-wise distribution of active cases are - East Khasi Hills district 849, West Khasi Hills district 346, West Jaintia Hills district 174, Ri-Bhoi district 94, South West Khasi Hills district 27, West Garo Hills district 24, East Jaintia Hills district 17, East Garo Hills district six, South West Garo Hills district five, North Garo Hills district four and South Garo Hills one.
