Meghalaya Residents Safety and Security Act, 2019 in Raj Bhawan

Staff Correspondent

Shillong: It's official. The amended Meghalaya Residents Safety and Security Act (MRRSA) 2019 in the form of an ordinance has reached the Raj Bhawan. This confirmation is based on a oneliner that the State Governor Tathagatha Roy gave to the waiting journalist on Wednesday. “I will examine it”, stated Roy when asked about his views on the contentious ordinance brought forth by the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) government in the State. While the government expects the Governor to give his nod to the ordnance which it wanted to regularize by the next session of the State Assembly, speculation is also rife that the Governor may sent it to the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). Governor Secretariat could not be contacted for further details.
