SHILLONG: Nongpoh witnessed a profound display of faith and devotion as thousands of Catholics participated in the Eucharistic Procession organized by the Assumption Catholic Church. Despite intermittent rain, the spiritual fervour remained undeterred as devotees from the three sub-districts under Nongpoh Parish gathered for the solemn event.
The day began with the celebration of the Holy Eucharistic Mass, presided over by Reverend Father Jose Varickasseril, in the presence of Nongpoh Parish Priest Father Peter Syiemlieh, Father Sawlus Kharpran, and other priests and sisters. A significant moment of the Mass was the First Holy Communion, where 69 boys and girls received the consecrated Bread and Wine, symbolizing the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ.
In the afternoon, the Eucharistic Procession commenced from the church premises, weaving through the streets of Nongpoh with hymns of praise and devotion before returning to the church grounds. The procession served as a public expression of faith, with participants reflecting on the sacred significance of the Eucharist.
