Meghalaya: TMC Raising The Bar For Assembly Polls Campaign

MEGHALAYA : Trinamool Congress shocked everyone after amassing a big crowd of 25000 people for its party meeting here on Friday. The party seems to be on its way to change the political dynamics in Meghalaya.

For decades, TMC candidates organised small meetings in order to reach out the public in various colonies. This held true for other National and Regional parties of the state. But with a massive throng present three months before the elections, TMC has created a scenario like never before.

A resident of Tura, AM Marak stated that, the supporters present in the party meeting where the general secretary of TMC ,Abhishek Banerjee was present, is only a precursor to the multitude expected when Mamata Banerjee will visit the state. The TMC general secretary also mentioned that the huge crowd present at the site would give its rivals from all the parties 'sleepless nights'.

The first step of TMC has shook everyone and all the other parties might find it really difficult to match their level. Abhishek Banerjee further assured the people present there that, the party leader and its support base would do everything to make people understand their vision and help them get the mandate.

Mukul Sangma, leader of Trinamool Congress held a meeting on Tuesday in New Bhaitbari in West garo Hills, where he addressed a crowd of 7-8 thousand. Again on Wednesday, he addressed another crowd in the village of Rondupara, where a number of 3000 people were present. Earlier the gravity of campaigns for election rises only after the list of candidates has been announced. This would generally take place 1 month prior to the election.

The election campaign process in Meghalaya has always been very sober. Huddles by a fireplace with the campaigner explaining their points was a common way to carry out the event. But the decibel has increased this year. The TMC flags are seen all over Meghalaya now while the other parties are yet to order their flags. Prashant Kishore's I-PAC ensured that ideology of TMC is spread all over the region.
