SHILLONG: In a sharp claim, Voice of the People Party (VPP) spokesperson Batskhem Myrboh alleged that attempts were being made to lure away its District Council members. Myrboh stated that certain political forces have been trying to approach VPP councillors, but the party remains unfazed and resolute.
Myrboh maintained that while such rumours persist, VPP’s representatives have stood their ground, guided by the party’s core principles.
Addressing the matter, VPP spokesperson Batskhem Myrboh stated, “We have heard of the rumours going around that our councillor or Members of District Councils have been approached by certain political entity but so far we have remained strong. If they succumb to the pressure, people will teach them a lesson.”
He added that the party remains grounded in its principles and expressed confidence in the loyalty of its elected representatives. “We are not doing anything special, we as a party have a principal, we have selected people who are suppose to abide by the party principal, so we go by that. We believe our legislators and our councillor will stay in the party,” he said.
