MLA Adelbert Nongrum Questions Meghalaya Government To Impose ‘One Way’ Rule

A Reporter

Shillong: MLA of North Shillong constituency Adelbert Nongrum has questioned the decision of the State Government to impose ‘one way’ on the recently inaugurated Mawlai bypass.

Speaking to reporters, Nongrum said, “This decision of the government is somewhat of a surprise because this Mawlai bypass is suppose to ease congestion in the city and in areas around Mawlai. However, the decision to impose ‘one way’ baffles me.”

He pointed out that are some roads in the city which are quite small, however vehicles coming from opposite directions are allowed to ply on the road and no such imposition as ‘one way’ has been imposed in such roads.

“This Mawlai bypass is 40-45 ft wide which is very big and many vehicles can ply through this road however the decision to impose ‘one way is a surprise,” he said.
