National People’s Party (NPP) Celebrates Foundation Day In Meghalaya

SHILLONG: The National People’s Party (NPP) celebrated its foundation day in the State, including all the district headquarters.

The foundation day of the NPP coincides with the birthday of its founder, Late Purno A Sangma on the 1st of September. However due to the fact that it fell on a Sunday, the occasion was celebrated on Monday.

The flag hoisting ceremony was held at the National People’s Party Shillong headquarters compound and the flag was unfurled by the NPP working president, Don Kupar War in the presence of Babeth Sangma, Forward Mawlong, secretary NPP, Lamphang Kharmujai, Shillong city president beside others.

The NPP was launched on August 24 but the September 1 was officially recognized as the foundation day in order to coincide with the birthday of its founder, late PA Sangma.

The party was conceived with the notion of becoming an all North East Party, with the intension to unite the North East of India under one political flag.

Today after seven years in existence, the National People’s Party has achieved the status of becoming one of the eight National Parties recognized in the country.
