Shillong: The entire ‘jing bang’ of the Nationalist People’s party (NPP) was at the Shillong Lachumiere party office ON Thursday evening to re focus on the party strategies ahead of the District Council and Lok Sabha Polls scheduled next year. But as they planned ahead, a pertinent question was placed before the Chief Minister and NPP National President Conrad K Sangma on the party take on Nidamon Chullet, the alleged instigator of the brutal assault of two prominent women social activists three week ago.

Chullet , an NPP district President of East Jaintia Hills have been named by the victim Amita Sangma. Asked on whether the party will carry out its internal inquiry into the alleged involvement, the Chief Minister stated, “There will be no inquiry to be carried out by the party because the police have already started the investigations.”

“As announced by the Home Minister, an independent inquiry has been instituted and we are clear that whoever the person is or party affiliations, evidences will be collected and the law will take its own recourse”, stated the Chief Minister soon after coming out of the Party headquarters. Interestingly Chullet is in the wanted list of the police and he is reported to have been absconding as per the latest police report received by The Sentinel. The Sentinel cross checked with the Superintendent of Police East Jaintia Hills Sylverstar Nontnger and he was apt that all efforts are being made to nab Chullet and others involved in the crime that drove CSWO President agnes Kharshiing and he colleague Amita Roy to a serious medical state.

Meanwhile, The Chief Minister also said that he along with the Ministers and other senior party functionaries held a meeting along with the PAC members to strengthen the party ahead of the District Councils and Lok Sabha Polls scheduled early next year.

While the NPP prepares itself for the 2019 district polls and the Lok Sabha elections, it has also come under tremendous fire from the opposition on the issue of illegal coal mining and transportation. It reaches to the extent that the High court has even taken cognizance.
