SHILLONG: The Meghalaya government has temporarily suspended all actions related to the relocation of the Harijan Colony in Shillong, pending the final order from the High Court. The issue, which has sparked political, legal, and social debates across the state, is currently under judicial review, prompting the administration to refrain from making any further decisions until a clear directive is issued by the court.
Speaking to the media, Meghalaya Chief Secretary D.P. Wahlang stated, “Regarding the Harijan Colony case, we have not had a meeting for quite some time. The case is now sub judice in the High Court. We are waiting for the final order from the High Court.”
He further assured that the government will fully comply with the court’s ruling. “We will take cognizance of the High Court order and follow it in letter and spirit,” Wahlang added.
