Two more Corona casualties in Meghalaya, death toll 90

Meghalaya, on Sunday, recorded two more deaths due to COVID-19, taking the toll to 90. Meanwhile, Meghalaya recorded 155 new cases, taking the total number of active cases to 1,055.

SHILLONG: Meghalaya, on Sunday, recorded two more deaths due to COVID-19, taking the toll to 90. Meanwhile, Meghalaya recorded 155 new cases, taking the total number of active cases to 1,055. The State also recorded 117 recovered cases on Sunday, taking the total number of recoveries to 8,462.

Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War informed that both the deaths occurred on October 31. One death was registered in East Khasi Hills while another in West Garo Hills. Pradeep Dhar, 57 years of Hawakhana Tura, expired on October 31 at 6:30 am. According to Dr. War, initially he was brought to the hospital on October 31 at 5:45 am and tested negative through rapid antigen test, but since the family members informed the hospital authorities that he had a history of fever with cough and cold he was again tested with TRUNAT and he tested positive.

Kerdimland Shangdiar (65 years) of Nongmynsong in Umkdait expired due to the infection on October 31. He tested positive for COVID on October 30. He collapsed in the toilet at home on the morning of October 31 and was declared dead at home at 10:30 am.

Of the new cases registered on Sunday, 81 (Armed & paramilitary forces: two; civilians: 79) are from Ri-Bhoi district; 41 from East Khasi Hills (Armed & paramilitary forces: 13; civilians: 28); 21 from West Garo Hills; four each from East Jaintia Hills and West Jaintia Hills; and two each from East Garo Hills and South West Garo Hills.

Of the new recoveries, 97 were in East Khasi Hills (Armed & paramilitary forces: one; civilians: 96); eight in West Garo Hills (Armed & paramilitary forces: one; civilians: seven); six in West Jaintia Hills; four in Ri-Bhoi; and two in North Garo Hills.
