Assam Rifles conducts awareness lectures on health issues in Mizoram

AIZAWL: To achieve the motto of 'Winning Hearts & Minds of Local Populace' and in a bid to motivate local residents, the Serchhip Battalion of 23 Sector Assam Rifles, under the aegis of Inspector General Assam Rifles (East), organized an awareness lecture at Little Flower School, Serchhip, Mizoram on the occasion of World Health Day on Thursday.

According to a press release, the aim of the lecture was to sensitize the students about COVID-19 Appropriate Behavior (CAB) and other health-related issues being faced by children.

The drive was led by the Medical Officer of the Battalion and was attended by 248 children. He laid emphasis on preventive measures to maintain good health especially in grown-ups. The students were asked to practice a healthy day-to-day lifestyle and include exercise/Yoga, augmented by good food habits to cope up lifestyle-related diseases.

The campaign received overwhelming response from the students and local populace and gave opportunity for building confidence amongst the students. The local residents extended their heartfelt gratitude towards the Assam Rifles for organizing such a meaningful campaign for students. They also expressed their eagerness to work together with the security forces for betterment and uplift of Mizoram.

Meanwhile, the Aizawl Battalion of 23 Sector Assam Rifles also conducted a lecture on 'World Health Day' at Zokhawsang, New Vaikhawtlang, Hnahlan, Mimbung, Kawlbem and Ngopa villages of Mizoram on Thursday.

A total 132 individuals (62 Female and 70 Male) attended the lecture, the aim of which was to spread awareness and alertness about the diseases and elucidate the causes of old-age related and lifestyle-related diseases like obesity, diabetes, hypertension, heart and kidney problems. Preventive measures to maintain good health especially in grown-ups were also suggested. Participants were asked to maintain a healthy day-to-day lifestyle along with routine exercise/ Yoga and good food habits to cope up with the old-age and lifestyle-related diseases.

The local residents extended their heartfelt gratitude towards the Assam Rifles for enlightening them about various diseases and their prevention on the occasion of 'World Health Day'.
