AIZAWL: The Serchhip Battalion of 23 Sector Assam Rifles conducted an awareness lecture on various ongoing Central and State Government welfare schemes for local residents at Hmunhmeltha village in the Champhai district recently.

According to a press release, the aim of the lecture was to educate and sensitize the people concerning various schemes such as Ayushman Bharat, Old Ages Pension scheme, Senior Citizen Savings Benefits, National Disability schemes and other financial assistance provided. The procedure to apply for the scheme was also briefed to the local people so that they can reap maximum benefits from these schemes.

CLEANLINESS CAMPAIGN: Meanwhile, according to another press release, the Lunglei Battalion of 23 Sector Assam Rifles conducted a 'Cleanliness Campaign' under 'Special Campaign 2.0' at Parva-II, Laki, Zorinpui, Saiha and Tuipang villages of Mizoram on Monday.

A total of 44 youth, women, children and village elders of Parva-II village participated in the event. During the event, the local residents were educated about the importance of clean surroundings and together with the villagers cleaning of the village was also carried out. Local residents were also educated on global warming, its harmful effects and the benefits of tree plantation to counter it.

The local residents expressed gratitude to Assam Rifles for sustained efforts to sensitize the masses on issues of health hygiene and clean environment.
