AIZAWL: As part of its unnerving dedication towards the fight against drugs and empowerment of local youth, the Lunglei Battalion of 23 Sector Assam Rifles, under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (East), has opened a 'Book Café' at Lunglei Garrison on January 17. The Book Café was inaugurated by Lunglei SP Stephen Lalrinawma in the presence of Lunglei secretary of YMA and State Tax Officer H. Lalzarzoliana.

The Book Café provides a variety of books along with freshly made bakery items and snacks keeping in mind the standards of hygiene and sanitation and that too at an affordable price. The Book Café houses an open library with collection of books from various genres. The café provides an open library for anyone to read or carry home the books without any restrictions or entry. The aim of the Book Café is to empower the youth with the knowledge and assist them to fight against drugs and addiction. The Book Café will provide employment opportunity and easy access to knowledge for the local youth. Speaking on the occasion, SP Stephen complemented the Assam Rifles Battalion for taking such positive steps to steer the youth towards the mainstream. The café aims at fighting the drug menace with positive engagement and reinforcing the motto of Assam Rifles 'Friend of the Hill people', stated a release.
