Heroin worth crores seized in Mizoram

AIZAWL: Acting on a tipoff, a joint operation launched by the Aizawl Battalion of 23 Sector Assam Rifles along with the Excise & Narcotics Department recovered 762 grams of heroin (No-4), in the general area of Hnahthial in Mizoram on February 26. The Excise department personnel detained a person in this regard, and also seized the recovered items.

The approximate market value of the recovered narcotics is Rs 3, 42,90,000.

The ongoing smuggling of drugs especially along the India-Myanmar border is a major cause of concern for Mizoram and the north-eastern States as well as the country, stated a release.
