AIZAWL: With the Assembly elections in Mizoram just around the corner, the state is witnessing a surge in security arrangements and logistical preparations as polling teams have commenced their journeys to their respective polling stations.

The polling for 40 assembly constituencies in Mizoram is scheduled to take place on November 7, and significant efforts are being made to ensure the safety and efficiency of the electoral process.

Saizikpuii, Additional Deputy Commissioner, emphasized the preparedness, stating, "The polling parties are collecting their EVMs and polling materials... Security personnel will go with each polling party. Every security arrangement has been made."

More than 8.52 lakh voters are set to decide the fate of 174 candidates in Mizoram. According to the Chief Electoral Officer's office in Mizoram, 8,52,088 voters, comprising 4,13,064 males and 4,39,028 females, will exercise their right to vote in 1276 polling stations across the state.

Notably, Mizoram boasts a sizeable number of young voters, with 50,611 electors in the 18-19 age group participating for the first time. Furthermore, the state houses 8,490 senior citizens aged 80 and above.

To ensure the conduct of free and fair elections, approximately 50 companies of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) have been deployed throughout the state. The Election Commission of India (ECI) has marked 30 polling stations in Mizoram as critical polling stations.

The ECI's data reveals that the Thorang assembly constituency is the least populous, with 14,924 voters, while the Tuichawng constituency holds the distinction of being the largest assembly constituency, with 36,041 voters.

In the Lawngtlai District, there are 181 Polling Stations, including 70 within 36-Tuichawng AC, 69 in 37-Lawngtlai West, and 42 in 38-Lawngtlai East AC. Thirty of these polling stations are identified as critical.

A significant workforce of nearly 5,000 polling personnel will be engaged in polling stations to oversee the election process and ensure fairness.

The third and final randomization of polling teams for the Legislative Assembly election was conducted on Sunday, utilizing computer software to assign each polling party to their respective place of duty within the South Tuipui Assembly Constituency.
