Guwahati: The Mizoram government on Friday extended the ongoing state-wide partial lockdown till August 31 in order to prevent any further spread of COVID-19.

During the lockdown period, all the international and inter-state borders will continue to remain closed except the three entry points at Vairengte and Bairabi on the Mizoram-Assam border and Kanhmun on the state border with Tripura, which will be opened for the transport of commodities.

The Lengpui airport will also remain operational during the extended partial lockdown.

The new guideline will allow inter-district and intra-state movement for both commercial and private vehicles.

However, vehicles will ply in Aizawl Municipal Corporation area on a rotational basis based on the registration number, to control traffic.

Business establishments and commercial activities will function normally with strict adherence to social distancing and other safety protocols.

All educational institutions and coaching institutes will remain closed. Training institutes under the Central and State government will, however, be allowed to open with strict adherence to the SOP issued by the Central Government on July 3.

Religious congregations and other large social gatherings will continue to be prohibited; at the same time, the fresh guideline allowed morning church devoting, marriage ceremony, funeral, anniversary celebrations, political and other social events with a maximum attendance of 50 people.

Games and sports practice, book release functions, and other related events are also allowed with a maximum of 25 attendees.

Gymnasiums will be allowed to open from August 5.

Night curfew will be imposed in all district headquarters between 8:30 pm and 4:30 am.

Gathering of more than 5 people is prohibited in all district headquarters.

Beauty parlor, salons, and spas will be opened with the prior appointment of customers to ensure social distancing.
