
AIZAWL: Mizoram Governor Gen (Dr) Vijay Kumar Singh, PVSM, AVSM, YSM (Retd), visited the BSF Sector Headquarters at Durtlang North in Aizawl, where he praised BSF officers and personnel for their commitment to ensuring security along the India-Bangladesh border.
Besides that, the Governor met members of the BSF during their visit, and commended the unwavering commitment of the forces towards national security. The Governor stressed the fact that vigilance was very important for border integrity and demanded for increased vigilance against illegal cross-border activities.
Apart from praises for security measures, the Governor also appreciated the Civic Action Programme of BSF, which facilitates creating some good will between the troops and the people. He urged the personnel to continue the humanitarian activities with dedication and enthusiasm.
On his arrival, the Governor was given a Guard of Honour and warmly received by Kalyan Kanti Majumdar, DIG, along with other senior officers. He was given a detailed briefing on the strategic responsibilities of BSF in Mizoram, including the operational challenges faced by the force.
The Governor also inspected the BSF office and Composite Hospital, where he was briefed on everything surrounding the activities of the BSF in the region. The BSF guards 318 km of the India-Bangladesh border in Mizoram, which has 58 Border Outposts (BOPs) aimed at improving security.
