
AIZAWL: Patanjali Foods Ltd, a leading edible oil company, will establish a palm oil mill in Mizoram, according to an official. He stated that two senior company officials met with Chief Minister Lalduhoma in Aizawl on Thursday to discuss the matter.
He added that the mill will be located at Liapha in the Lawngtlai district of south Mizoram, and the company is optimistic about completing the project within a year. The official said that the company's representatives also informed the CM that oil palm would be sourced from farmers in the Serchhip, Lunglei, Lawngtlai, and Siaha districts.
He said that Lalduhoma discussed with them the challenges faced by oil palm cultivators in the southern districts and outlined his government's plans to boost oil palm cultivation in the state. He added that the company officials assured they would take measures to promote oil palm cultivation in the southern districts of the state.
Meanwhile, Mizoram Governor Gen V.K. Singh (Retd) said that the state had been the first state in the northeast region to distribute property cards under the SVAMITVA (Survey of Villages Abadi and Mapping with Improvised Technology in Village Areas) scheme.
The Governor had virtually participated in the distribution event of Property Cards under the SVAMITVA Scheme from the Raj Bhavan in Aizawl.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had graced the occasion and handed out over 65 lakh property cards to property owners in over 50,000 villages in more than 230 districts across 10 States and 2 Union territories on Saturday through video conferencing.
