AIZAWL: In the present scenario of increasing stress and strain in professional and personal front of individuals in the armed forces, there is a pressing need of self evaluation and motivation among troops. To inculcate good thoughts and positivity among troops, a motivational lecture was organized by the Assam Rifles under the aegis of 23 Sector/ IGAR (East) at BN HQ in Serchhip, Lunglei and Aizawl. The lecture was conducted by Swami Acharya Dharmabandhuji from February 18 to 20.

The Swamiji touched upon various aspects of human life including personal and professional aspects. Great emphasis was given on motivation and discipline in the armed forces as it is the key to success in any war. He also mentioned the balance of life by keeping magnanimity in life with friends and respect to seniors.

He also gave personal examples to mention the need of simplicity and love to the humanity which is lacking in the modern world.

He also emphasised that the sole aim of life of any individual has to be strengthening the traditional bonds and solidarity amongst brothers in arms as well as the civilians we are dealing with. The lecture-cum-interactive session was well received and appreciated by the troops and it was found very fruitful and informative.

The aim of this motivational lecture was to increase the morale of troops and inculcate a feel of brotherhood and positivity among them.

DRAWING COMPETITION: To encourage the kids in taking part in artistic and creativity based activities thereby promoting their overall development, a drawing competition was held as part of the 'Bharat ka Amrut Mahotsav'.

It was organised by the Aizawl Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of 23 Sect Assam Rifles/ Inspector General Assam Rifles(East) on February 20.

The competition was conducted at Mimbung village with the aim to encourage and motivate the children to indulge themselves in creative things which are essential for their overall development especially in young age. Such events not only develop the creativity in kids but also assists with developing executive functions, which includes working memory, mental flexibility and self-control. A total of 30 children participated in the subject event and displayed their creative acumen.

This multi-faceted effort by Assam Rifles was well received by the people of village Mimbung. The village chiefs and general public appreciated the efforts of Assam Rifles and requested them to continue with such socially advantageous events in future.

FREE MEDICAL CAMP: The 3 (Naga Hills) Battalion Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarter Inspector General Assam Rifles (East) and Headquarter 23 Sector Assam Rifles conducted a 'Medical Camp' at Kakichhua Village by COB Zorinpui and at Lomasu Village by COB Tuipang on February 20. The aim of the medical camp was to provide free medical treatment to the local populace by a specially constituted medical team of this unit.

The team examined 73 patients besides distributing free medicines to the needy locals. Apart from providing medical assistance, basic knowledge on health education including precaution from common viral disease like Malaria was also imparted. Emphasis on importance of hygiene and sanitation were explained to the villagers for better living standard.

CHAIRS & TABLES GIVEN TO SCHOOL: The Lunglei (Naga hills) Battalion of Headquarter 23 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarter Inspector General Assam Rifles (East) handed over 20 chairs and tables to the school authority of the Government Nursery School at Lomasu Village in Saiha District of Mizoram).

This was a goodwill gesture towards locals under the Directorate General Assam Rifles Civic Action Programme, Project Number MZ-1633-20/21 for the year 2020-21.

The move was appreciated by the locals and Civil Administration. The gesture on part of Assam Rifles and their sincere concern will go a long way in further consolidating the harmonious relations prevailing between the locals and the Assam Rifles, stated a press release.
