Kohima: Nagaland's Department of Economics and Statistics has established coordination committees at both the state and district levels to oversee the implementation of the 8th Economic Census.
At the state level, a committee led by the Chief Secretary as Chairperson and the Director of Economics and Statistics as Member Secretary, along with 12 other members, will address preparedness, monitor progress, and resolve administrative and technical challenges during the census.
The committee will also review the deployment of enumerators and supervisors to ensure adequate staffing. Monthly reviews of fieldwork progress and validation of data against existing databases, such as the State Business Register, will be conducted.
Additionally, it will prepare reports on data accuracy based on supervision by both state officials and NSSO (FOD) supervisors.
At the district level, the District Coordination Committee, chaired by the Deputy Commissioner, will focus on local-level preparedness, progress, and resolution of administrative issues.
It will provide regular feedback to the state committee to ensure effective execution at the district level. The district committee is also responsible for engaging local law enforcement and government functionaries, including Panchayat and ward officials, to ensure smooth census operations.
Furthermore, it will facilitate the provision of administrative unit maps for villages and wards to aid in fieldwork activities.
