
GANGTOK: Sikkim Governor Om Prakash Mathur has graciously accepted an invitation to serve as the chief guest at the Maghey Sankranti Mela in Jorethang. The invitation was presented by Madan Cintury, the Area MLA of Zoom-Salghari and Chief Patron of the Jorethang Maghey Sankranti Mela Committee, accompanied by other executive members, during a meeting at Raj Bhavan.
The Maghey Sankranti Mela is set to be held on January 14, 2025. Governor Mathur conveyed his best wishes for the event's success and for the continued progress of the committee's future endeavors.
Meanwhile, Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang announced that music composer, singer, and Padma Shri awardee Kailash Kher and his band, 'Kailasa,' will perform at the Jorethang Maghey Sankranti Mela in Sikkim on January 21.
Known for their soulful blend of Indian folk and Sufi music, Kailash Kher and his band have captivated audiences worldwide with their mesmerizing voice, distinctive style, and powerful stage presence.
Their upcoming performance at the mela is expected to draw music lovers from across the region and beyond. The event promises to be a grand celebration of culture, tradition, and unity.
