Guwahati: 39 more COVID-19 positive cases have been detected in Tripura on Thursday, July 2. Meanwhile, the number of cured patients stands at 1,132, and the active tally in the state stands at 1,287.
Out of 1,325 samples that were examined by the state's health department, 39 fresh cases have been detected in the state. Tripura Chief Minister confirmed via a tweet that 18 infected patients are from West district, 6 each are from Sepahijala and North district, 5 are from Dhalai, while 2 patients are from the South and Gomati districts, respectively.

Meanwhile, Amid a burgeoning number of COVID-19 positive cases across India, the Tripura Government has declared a complete lockdown on July 5, next. By doing so, the BJP led Government is looking to emulate the success of the Janata Curfew called by PM Modi on Sunday, May 22.
"In our state, the first phase of the COVID-19 pandemic has already begun. In the times to come, subsequent stages of the pandemic may arise, and thus, we have to prepare ourselves to fight the battle against this disease", Biplab Deb said in a video on June 30. During this single-day lockdown, all services, barring those deemed 'essential', will be banned from operating by the state Government.
Meanwhile, India's COVID-19 tally touched 6,25,544 with the biggest single-day increase of 20,903 cases, while the death count rose to 18,213, the latest data from the Union Health Ministry shows. The number of recoveries stands at 3,79,892, while the recovery rate has improved to 60.72 percent.
