Guwahati: ASEBSC claimed their first victory in the Guwahati Premier League Football competition with a dramatic 2-1 win over SAISC at Judges Field here today. In another tightly contested match, Green Valley FC registered an identical 2-1 victory over Chirangduar FC.

ASEBSC started strongly in the match, creating atleast six goal-scoring opportunities in the first half. However, Rohan Prasad, SAISC’s goalkeeper, produced a stellar performance, making multiple acrobatic saves. The woodwork also denied ASEBSC twice. Their efforts finally paid off in the 13th minute when Rohan Brahma broke the deadlock to give ASEBSC the lead.

SAISC responded with vigor, continuously pressing ASEBSC’s defense. Their luck deserted them as two attempts struck the crossbar. Persistence paid off in the 73rd minute when Debojit Konwar equalized with a fine effort.

Just as the match seemed destined for a draw, Sanswarang Basumatary emerged as the hero, netting the winning goal in the third minute of added time to seal a much-needed victory for ASEBSC. With this victory ASEBSC also opened their account in the competition.

Meanwhile Green Valley FC emerged victorious with a 2-1 win over Chirangduar FC. Nimraiyo Masangva opened the scoring for Green Valley FC and James T Collins doubled the lead in the 48th minute. Chirangduar’s Micodin Narjary returned one in the 41st minute.

With this victory FC Green Valley stayed at the second place in the points table in cluster A with 10 points from four games.
