GUWAHATI: In a nail-biting finish, Gauhati Town Club (GTC) clinched a narrow one-run victory over 91 Yards Club in the GTC Men’s Summer Challenge T20 Trophy at Judges Field here today.

Batting first, GTC posted a competitive total of 149 for 7 in their allotted 20 overs. Saahil Jain led the charge with a blistering 74 off just 42 balls, including three fours and seven sixes. He was well supported by Bishal Sarma, who added 45 runs to the total. Reshabh Dipak was the pick of the bowlers for 91 Yards Club, returning with figures of 3 for 24.

In reply, 91 Yards Club put up a spirited chase but fell just short, managing 148 for 5 in their 20 overs. Kunal Saikia top-scored with a steady 61 off 53 deliveries, hitting seven boundaries and one six. He received support from Parvej Musaraf (33) and Nihar Narah (31), but their efforts weren’t enough to take the team over the line.

Sumit Kashyap bowled a good spell for GTC, claiming 2 wickets for 29 runs.

Meanwhile in the other match of the day an impressive all-round performance from Abu Nechim Ahmed helped Bud Cricket Club to register a 3-wicket victory over Navarang Club.

Elected to bat first, Navarang Club posted a competitive 150-4 in 20 overs thanks to two solid knocks from Bikiran Das and Asif Wasimul Haque. Bikiran hammered a quickfire 42 off just 21 balls, laced with 2 fours and 4 sixes, while Asif contributed 41 from 33 balls, hitting 4 boundaries and 2 sixes. Abu Nechim Ahmed finished with 2 for 37.

In reply, Bud Cricket Club chased down the target in 19.3 overs, losing 7 wickets. Abu Nechim once again made his presence felt with the bat, scoring a crucial 40 off 30 deliveries, which included 5 fours and a six. Sarupam Purkayastha also played a key role in the chase, contributing 36 runs with 4 boundaries.

For Navarang, Bikiran Das and Dhrubajyoti Das picked up two wickets each.
