GUWAHATI: Cyclist Chayanika Gogoi secured a silver medal for Assam at the 38th National Games in Rudrapur, Uttarakhand, on Monday. Competing in the 10-kilometer Scratch Race, Chayanika finished second with a timing of 25 minutes 10.02 seconds. This marks her third medal at the National Games, having previously won two medals in the Gujarat edition.

Lawn Bowls: Assam assured itself of six medals in lawn bowls as state players advanced to the semifinals in six different categories in Dehradun on Monday.

Boxing: Assam’s boxer Gourav Majumder made a strong start in the 51kg category, reaching the quarterfinals with an impressive 5-0 win on Monday.

Football:  Assam football team, having already qualified for the semifinals, suffered a 0-3 defeat against Mizoram in their last group league match on Monday. They will face either Delhi or Kerala in the semifinals on February 5.

Badminton: Assam’s campaign in badminton came to an end on Monday. Isharani Baruah lost her quarterfinal match, while the doubles pair Suraj Goala and Ranjan Buragohain also exited at the quarterfinal stage.
