GUWAHATI: Persistent rain once again disrupted proceedings in the final of the Nuruddin Senior Inter-District Cricket Championship, as the opening day’s play at Nehru Stadium was completely washed out due to an unplayable outfield.
Overnight showers left the ground in poor condition, and after a morning inspection, the umpires had no choice but to call off the day’s play without a single ball being bowled.
It is worth noting that the final, originally scheduled to begin on May 31, had already been postponed by the Assam Cricket Association due to similar weather-related issues. The rescheduled match now faces further uncertainty as rain continues to play spoilsport.
