KOKRAJHAR: Kachugaon Football Club of Kokrajhar became champion of 1st Bodoland CEM Cup Football Tournament held at Kokrajhar SAI Stadium on Tuesday evening by defeating Kajalgaon FC of Chirang by 2-0 goals. The final match witnessed huge crowd of spectators and craze football fans.
Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma kicked off the final match along with BTC Chief Pramod Boro, Minister of Sports, Assam, Nandita Garlosa, Minister UG Brahma, Consul General of Bhutan in Guwahati Jigme Thinley Namgyel and other dignitaries.
The match ended goalless in full time as both the teams played with equal strength, compelled the Match Commissioner for extra 20 minutes time. In the middle of the extra time, Urkhao Mashahary of Kachugaon scored the first goal while Bipan Brahma scored another goal for the team leading to their victory against Kajalgaon FC.
The Champion trophy to winner Kachugaon FC was given away by- Smt Nandita Gorlosa, Minister of Sports and Youth Welfare, Assam while cheque of Rs. 1.5 lakhs was given away by BTC Nominated Member- Madhav Chandra Chetri while Runner- up trophy to Kajalgaon FC was given away by Lok Sabha MP Joyanta Basumatary and cheque of Rs. 1,00,000 was given away by Bhutan Consule General in Guwahati Jigme Thinley Namgyel.
Jomduar FC clinched the 3rd position and its trophy was handed over by BTC Speaker- Katiram Boro and cheque of Rs. 50,000 was given away by EM-Ranjit Basumatary. EM of Sports and Youth Welfare, BTC Daobaisa Boro given away the best player trophy to Urkhao Mashahary of Kachugaon while cheque of Rs. 10,000 was given away by former president of Assam Football Association-Hemendra Nath Brahma. Golap Brahma of Kachugaon FC was adjudged as the best goal keeper and its trophy was handed over by the Chairperson of Kokrajhar Municipal Board (KMB) Pratibha Brahma while cheque of Rs. 10,000 was given away by- Dr. Sangrang Brahma, Secretary of Assam Football Association.
