Online Staff/GUWAHATI: NF Railway Sports Club (NFRSA) extended their dominance in the Guwahati Premier League, clinching a 3-1 victory over Sunrise Athletic Club at the Judges Field here on Sunday. This win marked their fifth consecutive victory in the tournament.

Sunrise drew first blood in the 22nd minute when Thiyam Amujao Meitei scored against the run of play during a counterattack. This goal ended NFRSA goalkeeper Manpreet’s remarkable 382-minute unbeaten streak.

NFRSA responded emphatically in the second half, taking full control of the game. Sibra Narzary equalized with a precise shot to the left corner in the 57th minute. Debajit Basak then delivered a stellar performance, netting twice in quick succession in the 61st and 62nd minutes to seal the win.

The victory solidifies NFRSA’s top spot in Cluster B with 15 points from five matches. Sunrise Sports Club, with two losses, remains without points in the competition.

Meanwhile in the evening game under floodlights, NEUFC overwhelmed Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) with a 3-0 win. The match was a showcase of NEUFC’s attacking prowess, with the team creating multiple chances in the opening minutes.

Despite the pressure, NRL goalkeeper Jitumoni Das delivered a commendable performance, making several crucial saves. However, NEUFC broke through in the 33rd minute with Mukul Panwar converting a free kick setup by Lalrinfella.

NEUFC continued their dominance in the second half, with G. Wangkheirakpan doubling the lead in the 54th minute, and Aditya Kalloli sealing the victory in the 75th minute.

This win takes NEUFC’s tally to six points from three games.
