GUWAHATI: Last year’s finalists, South Point School, secured a dominant victory over Machkhowa Cricket Coaching Centre and entered in the final of the TOPEM-ASJA Inter-School and Coaching Centre Cricket Tournament. The match, held at the Nehru Stadium today, saw South Point triumph by a massive margin of 143 runs in the first semifinal.

Invited to bat first, South Point School posted a competitive total of 195 for 9 in 40 overs. Their innings was anchored by a brilliant half-century from Manish Upadhyay, who scored 65 off 54 balls, laced with 10 boundaries. Mrinmoy Das provided valuable support, remaining unbeaten on 46 off 49 balls, including four boundaries. The duo added 101 runs on the fifth-wicket.

In response, Machkhowa struggled right from the start, with Praneet Pagaria wreaking havoc on their batting lineup. Pagaria’s sensational spell saw him claim four wickets for just 12 runs, dismantling the top order within 19 runs. Unable to recover from the early damage, Machkhowa were bowled out for a paltry 52 in 25 overs. Captain Nihal Ahmed (16) was the lone bright spot for Machkhowa in the batting.

In the second semi final on Friday River Rine Cricket Coaching Centre will face Royal Cricket Academy.
