NEW DELHI: The Congress named its candidates for the remaining four Lok Sabha seats in Assam on Friday after the CEC (Central Election Committee) meeting of the party at 10 Janpath on Thursday evening. AICC (All India Congress Committee) general secretary Mukul Wasnik said that while Bobbeeta Sarma will contest from Guwahati, Abdul Khaleque will contest from Barpeta, Abu Taher Ali Bepari from Dhubri and Sabda Ram Rabha from Kokrajhar (ST) Lok Sabha seats. Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Ripun Bora and CLP leader Debabrata Saikia were present at the CEC meeting.
The Guwahati seat is set for a direct showdown between Congress' Bobbeeta Sarma and Queen Ojha of the BJP.
While Bobbeeta is the general secretary of the APCC (Assam Pradesh Congress Committee), Ojha is former Guwahati Mayor.
