GUWAHATI: Four police officials of Assam have been selected for the 'Union Home Minister's Medal for Excellence in Investigation' 2022.

The awardees are Barun Purkayastha, IPS, currently serving as Superintendent of Police, Hojai; Mrinmoy Das, APS, currently serving as Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Kaliabor; Rosy Talukdar, APS, currently serving as Deputy Superintendent of Police (Headquarter),

Hojai; and Narayan Saikia, currently serving as Sub-Inspector (UB), Dima Hasao district.

After the awards were announced, Special DGP GP Singh tweeted: "@Hojai Police team awarded Union Home Minister's Medal for Excellence in Investigation - 2022 for investigation of incident of vandalism against doctors and medical staff at Phultoli Covid hospital, Udali, Lanka. Congratulations!"

Meanwhile, Barun Purkayastha told The Sentinel that he feels proud to be one of the four recipients of the award from the state and it is an honour for the Hojai police as a whole. He also extended his congratulations to his three fellow-awardees.

On the other hand, Rosy Talukdar told The Sentinel that she feels privileged to receive the medal. She also congratulated the entire team involved in the investigation of the doctors' assault case. She will strive to serve the people by performing her duty diligently in future as well, Talukdar added.
