Assam: Revised Midday Meal Rates Under PM-POSHAN Effective from May 1

The revised material cost for midday meals in schools under the PM-POSHAN (Pradhan Mantri-Poshan Shakti Nirman) Scheme will be effective from May 1, 2025.

GUWAHATI: The revised material cost for midday meals in schools under the PM-POSHAN (Pradhan Mantri-Poshan Shakti Nirman) Scheme will be effective from May 1, 2025.

According to the revised rates, the material cost per student per day will be Rs 6.78 for Balvatika and lower primary schools and Rs 10.17 for upper primary schools.

On receiving a letter to this effect from the Central Government, the Mission Director, SSA, who is the state nodal officer for PM-POSHAN, has sent letters to the district mission coordinators of SSA and assistant district nodal officers of PM-POSHAN to implement the revised rates of material costs for midday meals from May 1, 2025.

The existing material costs for midday meals are Rs 6.19 per student per day for Balvatika (Ka-shreni) and lower primary schools (Class I-Class V) and Rs 9.29 per student per day for upper primary schools (Class VI to Class VIII).

The SSA Mission Director has also asked district mission coordinators of SSA and assistant district nodal officers of PM-POSHAN to disseminate the revised rates of material costs under PM-POSHAN to all functionaries concerned up to the school and central kitchen level to ensure prompt implementation of the revised rates.
