Assam: State Government Shuffles Top Bureaucrats

Guwahati: Five top bureaucrats in Dispur were reshuffled and assigned or relieved of additional charges on Saturday in the interest of better efficiency in delivery of services to the public at large.

A notification issued by the Department of Personnel today listed the transfer and postings of the senior-most bureaucrats in the state government.

According to the notification, Dr Ravi Kota, IAS, Chief Secretary, Assam, who holds the additional charge of the Industries, Commerce & Public Enterprises Department, has been relieved from the additional charge of the Industries, Commerce & Public Enterprises Department.

Dr B. Kalyan Chakravarthy, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary to the Government of Assam, Labour Welfare, Skill, Employment & Entrepreneurship, Cultural Affairs and Transformation & Development Departments (addl.) & Chairman, State Level Recruitment Commission for Class-IV Posts (addl.), has been transferred and posted as Additional Chief Secretary, Panchayat & Rural Development, and Additional Chief Secretary, Cultural Affairs, Skill, Employment & Entrepreneurship Departments and Chairman, State Level Recruitment Commission for Class-IV Posts as additional charges.

Dr John Berchmans Ekka, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary to the Government of Assam, Panchayat & Rural Development, Tea Tribes & Adivasi Welfare and Tourism Departments (addl.), has been transferred and posted as Additional Chief Secretary, Industries, Commerce & Public Enterprises, and Additional Chief Secretary, Tea Tribes & Adivasi Welfare and Labour Welfare Departments as additional charges.

Diganta Barah, IPS, IGP (SB), Director, Lachit Barphukan Police Academy, Dergaon (addl.), has been transferred and posted as Commissioner & Secretary to the Government of Assam, Tourism Department, and Commissioner and Secretary, Home & Political Department (Forensics, Jails, Home Guards and other matters) as additional charge.

Also, Dilip Kumar Borah, IAS, Secretary to the Government of Assam, Finance, Handloom, Textile and Sericulture Departments, and MD, Assam Silk Outreach Mission (addl.), has also been posted as Secretary, Transformation & Development Department as an additional charge.
