Guwahati: The production of tea in Assam and the country as a whole marked an increase in the month of March 2025, as compared to that in March 2024.
Tea Board data shows that Assam produced 27.52 million kg of tea in March 2025. Of this, 9.77 million kg was produced by big growers and 17.75 million kg by small growers. Compared to this, the total production of tea by Assam in March 2024 was 21.45 million kg. This marked an increase of 6.07 million kg by Assam's tea producers in March this year.
The all-India tea production figure for March 2025 is 65.14 million kg, including that of Assam. Of the total tea produced, 26.29 million kg was contributed by big growers and 38.85 million kg by small growers. In March 2024, the country as a whole produced 63.78 million kg of tea. Tea production in the country in March this year marked an increase of 1.36 million kg over last year.
Of the 65.14 million kg of tea produced in the country in March 2025, the contribution of CTC was 56.64 million kg, Orthodox tea was 7.73 million kg and that of Green tea was 0.77 million kg.
