The steps taken to complete these projects expeditiously include streamlining of land acquisition; revamping the dispute resolution mechanism; awarding projects after adequate preparation in terms of land acquisition, clearances, etc.; correctly worked out utility estimates obtained at the earliest after the alignment finalization and the same form part of project appraisal; close coordination with Ministries and State Governments concerned; regular review at various levels; expediting approval of Change of Scope and Extension of Time proposals; and Network Planning Group appraisal before sanction of works so that issues with the project regarding clearances identified beforehand and solution can be worked out in advance.

NH works in the NE are constructed by state PWDs (NH Division), NHIDCL, NHAI, and BRO. Compared to the rest of the country, NHIDCL is constructing the highest number of NH works in the NE region.
