HSLC results out: Success rate 63.98%

Guwahati: Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB), Division 1, on Friday declared the results of the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) examination 2025. The overall pass percentage was declared as 63.98%. The result was disappointing, as compared to that of 2023 or 2024, when an overall pass percentage of 72.6% and 75.7% was recorded, respectively. However, the number of candidates appearing for the HSLC exams this year was more than in the previous two years.

This year, the total number of candidates who applied for the HSLC exam was 4,29,449. Of this, a total of 4,22,737 candidates appeared for the exam. The number of male candidates appearing for the exam was 1,87,752 and that of female candidates was 2,34,985. The exams were conducted from February 15 to March 3, 2025, and the results were announced today, after 36 days. A total of 6,712 students were absent, while results for 22 students were withheld, and 101 students were expelled during the exams.

Of the 4,22,737 candidates appearing for the exam, a total of 2,70,471 candidates were successful, with a pass percentage of 63.98%. The pass percentage among male candidates stands at 67.59%, while female candidates recorded a pass percentage of 61.09%.

Among the successful candidates, 89,041 secured first division, 1,35,568 secured second division, and 45,862 came in third division. Additionally, 5,336 students received distinction marks, 16,517 secured star marks, and 1,68,312 achieved letter marks in various subjects.

The students achieving the first, second and third ranks are Amishi Saikia, Saptarswa Bordoloi and Anirban Borgohain, respectively. Amishi Saikia, a student of Pragya Academy, Jorhat, secured the top position with an impressive total of 591 marks (98.5%). Saptarswa Bordoloi from Assam Jatiya Vidyalaya, Guwahati, claimed the second position, scoring 590 marks (98.33%). Anirban Borgohain, also from Pragya Academy, Jorhat, achieved the third rank with 589 marks (98.17%).

Among the districts, Sivasagar achieved the highest pass percentage of 85.55%, followed by Dibrugarh with 81.10% and Dhemaji with 80.64%. The district with the lowest pass percentage is Sribhumi, with 47.96%.

The category-wise results are: General: 62.45%, OBC: 69.64%, MOBC: 70.78%, SC: 58.56%, ST (P): 71.32%, ST (H): 65.86%, and Tea Tribe: 51.89%.
