Guwahati: After a considerable gap, two persons died of Covid in the state on Friday amid a perceptible spike in the pandemic.

As many as 294 new cases were registered across the state today, with a positivity rate of 11.20 per cent. Significantly, Kamrup (M) alone accounted for 92 cases, followed by Kamrup with 42 cases. The two deaths both occurred in Kamrup (M).

Other districts which registered 10 or more cases included Dibrugarh (18) and Darrang (25).

As on date, there were 1,370 active cases in the state. However, at the same time 60 Covid patients were also

discharged from various hospitals.

It is worth noting that between June 28 and July 7, Kamrup (M) registered 682 positive cases, followed by Kamrup with 176 positive cases.

Doctors here said that there is no need to panic over the rise in Covid cases, but cautioned that people must revert to Covid-appropriate behaviour.

It may be mentioned that till 8 pm on Friday, a total of 4,67,98, 741 doses of 1st, 2nd and precautionary Covid vaccines have been administered in the state. Over 31,000 doses of vaccines were administered on Friday alone.
