Sonapur: In a heart-rendering moment during the memorial service held at the singer’s resting site in Sonapur, Garima Saikia Garg, wife of the late beloved artist, Zubeen Garg, addressed a crowd of admirers and well-wishers. The resting place has gradually transformed into a green sanctuary in his memory.

An emotional Garima Garg further spoke about Zubeen's fondness for Assam's emblematic Nahor (Mesua) tree and emphasised his strong connection to nature. She adds, “There will be Zubeen where there are Nahor trees.”, once remarked by the late artist himself.

As a loving homage to the cultural icon, she expressed her desire to see Sonapur transformed into a Nahor forest, which would extend all the way from the singer's resting place to Jagiroad. She believes that Zubeen will rest in peace and happiness in the midst of the Nahor trees.

Meanwhile, Nahor saplings have been planted throughout the state by fans and locals, transforming Zubeen’s passion for the environment into a movement that represents both remembrance and renewal.

Sonapur, with its growing canopy of Nahor trees, is quickly becoming a symbol of the late singer’s love for nature. Assam continues to mourn the loss of the legendary singer.
