Tea production in India up by 12.51 M kg in November 2024: Report

Guwahati: Compared to tea production in the country in November 2023, there has been some increase in tea production in November 2024. Likewise, production of Assam tea has also registered an increase in November 2024.

The increase in tea production on a year-on-year basis in the month of November was 12.51 million kg.

This fact came to light in a Tea Board of India report on estimated production for November 2024. According to the said report, production of tea in the country in November 2024 was 143.28 million kg (M kg), as compared to 130.77 M kg in November 2023. Of the 143.28 M kg of tea produced in India in November 2024, the share of big growers was 58.24 M kg, while small growers accounted for 85.04 M kg. Again, of the total quantity of tea produced in November 2024, Assam produced a total of 66.44 M kg, of which 31.90 M kg was produced by big growers while small growers produced 34.54 M kg. In November 2023, Assam produced 65.32 M kg of tea. This meant an increase of 1.12 M kg in November 2024.

Out of the 143.28 M kg of tea produced in the country in November 2024, the share of CTC tea was 132.84 M kg, Orthodox 8.91 M kg, and Green tea 1.53 M kg.

The figures cited in the Tea Board report are provisional in nature and subject to changes, as stated in the report.
