Flood-free Assam Promise By BJP: "The Government of India will implement every single promise made in the Bodoland agreement, and it will be done before 2022. Within the next five years, we will make Assam free from floods. We have assured this to the people of Assam through our 'Sankalpa Patra'. The State will be made free from terrorism as well. Already we have done a lot in this regard," said Union Home Minister Amit Shah during a large election rally at Bijni in Chirang district on Wednesday.

Bijni will go to the polls in last phase on April 6.

Campaigning in favour of BJP candidate for Bijni, Ajay Kumar Ray, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said, "Last year, we fulfilled almost all our promises. We had assured to make Assam free from terrorism, and we did it. We assured inclusion of the Bodo-dominated areas in the BTR (Bodoland Territorial Region) and exclusion of the non-Bodo dominated area from the BTR; and we also formed a commission for it. We assured to increase seats of BTR and we formed a commission for it too.

"We have started the process to bring the surrendered militants to the mainstream; and for this purpose, we will give each of them a financial assistance of Rs four lakh.

"We assured to make Assam agitation-free; and we have formed autonomous or territorial councils for the communities."

Criticising Rahul Gandhi over the Congress's alliance with Badruddin Ajmal's AIUDF (All India United Democratic Front), Shah said, "Rahul Baba mentioned that Badruddin Ajmal is Assam's identity. But, Ajmal can never be Assam's identity."

Among the dignitaries present on the occasion were Member of National Council of BJP Bimal Oswal; BJP observer for Kokrajhar Parliamentary Constituency, Binod Ganthiya; youth secretary of Madhya Pradesh BJP, Aswini Ray; and Minister Keshab Mahanta.
