Search drives continue in vulnerable areas to curb illegal weapons

Imphal East, August 16 – Security forces have recovered a significant cache of arms and ammunition during intensified area domination and search operations in Ngariyan Chingyang, a vulnerable pocket in Imphal East district of Manipur.

The latest haul marks a crucial breakthrough in efforts to stabilise the region, which has seen periodic unrest in recent months.

Cache includes rifles, live ammunition, riot-control shells

During the operation, the following items were recovered:

·        One 12-bore double-barrel gun

·        INSAS LMG magazine

·        SLR rifle magazine

·        27 live rounds of 7.62 SLR ammunition

·        20 live rounds of 7.62 mm AK ammunition

·        Three live rounds of 9 mm ammunition

·        Three tear smoke shells

·        One tear smoke soft-nose shell

·        One 38 mm anti-riot rubber bullet cartridge

·        One stun shell

·        17 empty cartridges of 7.62 mm calibre

·        31 empty cartridges of .303 rifle

·        Two empty cartridges of 12-bore

Investigations Underway

Authorities have confirmed that the seized materials have been taken into custody, with further investigations ongoing to determine their origin and potential use.

Security forces are expected to continue their operations across high-risk districts in the coming days, aiming to neutralise hidden caches and ensure peace in the region.
