Assistant Sub Inspector Tihu Police Station caught red handed while accepting bribe

Guwahati: In a major breakthrough, ASI Ram Charan Nath of Tihu Police Station under Nalbari District was caught after accepting illegal gratification by the Assam ACB Team led by a Deputy Superintendent of Police, while the police officer had accepted a Bribe amount of Rs. 15,000/- from the complainant one Udhab Talukdar on April 29, 2019 at around 7.30 pm.

As per press communiqué by Assam Police, the accused had demanded a bribe of Rs. 50,000 (Fifty Thousand), for submission of favourable Case Diary to the court for getting bail by the elder sister and the wife of the complainant, who had been arrested and were in judicial custody as an installment of bribe, Rs. 15000/- was asked to be paid on 29.04.2019

Thus the complainant had approached the ACB PS in the Directorate of Vigilance & Anti Corruption and a Trap was laid down as per standard procedure in matter of ACB PS Case No. 05/2019 under section 7(a) of PC Act (as amended in 2018).

The accused Public Servant has been arrested and will be forwarded to the Special Court. Due procedures are observed.

Further Investigation is being carried on.
