Guwahati: After co-convenor of the Assam Bharatiya Janata Party’s IT and SM Department was trolled on the social media for wishing leftist supporter Srijani Bhaswa Mahanta for winning the post of councilor of the School of International Studies in the Jawaharlal Nehru University Students’ Union (JNUSU) elections on Monday, the co-convener of IT and social media department of the BJP party Dutta on Tuesday decided to resign from his post for demoralising the BJP workers (Karyakartas) through his FB post.
Suranjan Dutta in his resignation letter to the party president Ranjit Kumar Dass apologised for causing “hurt” to party “karyakartas (workers)“ for a post in the social media.
It may be mentioned that Dutta earlier had congratulated Srijani Bhaswa Mahanta who is one of the winning Girl from Assam. As per a media report she is also the daughter of Assam ADGP Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta.
The post had triggered uproar among Right-wing members of ABVP which had garnered widespread drubbing for Duuta alleging him to side with the United Left which is an opposition to the BJP.
